employee of the month

This is me and my sister practicing our yawning. She came over to play with me yesterday. She also enjoys to use Photobooth on the computer. My sister hadn't been over to play with me for a while. She works at 5:30am every day and then goes to school three days a week so she gets sleepy (see the yawns!). She was recently crowned employee of the month . . . their very first ever!

In other news, my dog is recovering well. He is making the most of his second chance at life.

The Texas summer is creeping back in. Most days are about 90 degrees, some a bit warmer.

We went to Fredericksburg on Saturday to have lunch at Rather Sweet. It is one of the best bakeries anywhere (not including Canada, of course, because people here don't even know about Black Forest cake or butter tarts and nevermind Nanaimo bars). Rebecca Rather is a world-famous pastry chef and she opened up shop in the middle of no where. weird. The best part of the trip was seeing all of the cowboys who tease me. They say "get that boy home and feed him before he starves" or "look at those skinny little legs." Somehow, I make cowboys all sappy and I love the attention.

Soon we will post the photos from our Fredericksburg trip. My dad doesn't know how to use a Mac and my mom has never known how to do the photos. It's a losing combination!

my best friend

This is my dog. It is not the best photo in the world but my mom goes a little bit overboard with the Photobooth feature on her new Mac. The best photo of my dog was recently published in Bark magazine. So you know my dog is not only cute but famous too!

My dog is happy to be alive today. He had a seizure last night. My mom saved his life while me and my dad looked on in a hopeless/helpless state of panic.

I went to the vet with my dog today. I learned that he is also skeptical about the doctor. But I had fun at the vet! So many cute cats and dogs. In recent days, I have added "meow" to my vocabulary. meow meow.

This seizure overshadowed many events of the week - including my grandfather's birthday today. Happy birthday to him! Somewhere I have a photo of the first/only time I met him when I was in Victoria. He likes dogs too. And birds. I have heard he also likes to watch birds - and that happens to be another hobby of mine right now.

practicing my walking skills

I took a short break from being grouchy to practice my walking this afternoon. I walked all the way from my chair to the other end of my crib - and back again.

I am mad about growing teeth since I don't think I will ever need them anyhow. Tooth number three is pushing through my gums. I won't show anyone though. The only way to see my teeth is to turn me upside down. I cannot keep my mouth closed when I am upside down.

happy birthday to me (yesterday)

Yesterday was my birthday. We celebrated by visiting the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. We didn't know it was my birthday though because we got our days mixed up. So people would ask how old is that baby and we would say "he will be ten months old tomorrow." oooops. Not true. I was already ten months old! Either way, people thought I was the cutest and happiest baby in the world. I am.

You would not believe all of the flowers we saw yesterday. And the weather was perfect. It was cool (70 degrees) and overcast so we had a leisurely stroll around the research and something paths. My dad thinks we walked two miles or more. You sure couldn't have done that on a normal hot sunny April day in Texas. You would burn alive!

I love flowers and plants and being outside (and, for my dad's benefit, I will say I like rocks too).

It is sad because we only have a few weeks left before it will be 100 degrees every day again so we are enjoying the outdoors as much as possible these days.

I am a monkey

This is me having fun with my monkey immediately after my dad fixed my crib . . . before I got suspicious that I might be expected to sleep in it one day.

my crib

Yesterday, my dad lowered my crib so it is safe for me to sit in. It was still on the infant setting. I prefer to stand outside of my crib though. My other favorite place to stand is at the front window. I like to look at the flowers and watch the people and dogs go by. In my neighborhood, you have to stand in the window for a long long time to see anything or anyone go past.

I got an Easter card in the mail yesterday from my great-grandmother so I hold onto the card while I stand at the window.

On Thursday of last week, my first tooth finally broke through my gums. To celebrate on Thursday night, I only slept from 5:50am until 7:19am.
