Happy Thanksgiving

This is a picture of me and my sister on Thanksgiving. As you can see, I am almost as big as she is. We had a lovely Thanksgiving. My great-grandmother travelled here from Washington to spend the week with us and she brought me the cute outfit I am wearing in this picture and several other outfits too and you would not believe how many clothes I have now. My sister came over for Thanksgiving dinner (obviously, because she is in the photo with me) and my girlfriend Lisa came over too and she brought THE biggest pie in the whole world. For dinner, my mom made mashed potatoes; maple vanilla sweet potatoes; lemon greenbeans; multi-grain rolls; mixed greens with pears, grapes, feta, roasted pecans in a mustard vinaigrette; cranberries; pecan cornbread stuffing; and my dad made turkey. I think that is all. It was a lot of food even if I forgot to list something. For dessert there was Lisa's pecan pie and an apple pie. We had several kinds of gelato too. Yum yum yum. Next year, I will be able to eat real food.

birthdays birthdays birthdays

This week, I have two birthdays. Yesterday, November 11, I celebrated my five month birthday. I celebrated by going to Jo's house for lunch. She has become "Grandma Jo." We had a lovely visit. We chatted and caught up and danced around by the pool. She served quiche for lunch, and brownies and tea (decaf, of course) for dessert. My mom loves quiche so much and used to make it quite often. My mom ate some foods that could have made me bad in the tummy (asparagus, cheese, chocolate) but I didn't have any side effects! In recent weeks, I have made such great improvements with what I can tolerate my mom to eat. She mostly has to stay away from dairy still though but sometimes I will let her eat a piece of cheese.

Jo will make me homemade baby food (veggies) when I start eating. But I am most excited about her promise to make me cookies when I am an even bigger boy. She is a great baker.

Jo has such a beautiful home. She lives with her daughter, son-in-law, and two grandchildren. The house was designed by her son-in-law (an architect before he made a career in investment banking). So pretty. Their home could be in a magazine. Architectual Digest? Perhaps as a backdrop for a Martha Stewart spread?

In the late afternoon, after I went home and napped, me and my mom went downtown. My mom went to work for a while and my dad took me to the Capitol. And then we went to Whole Foods for dinner.

Today, I have another birthday: 22 weeks! I am grouchy and it is my dog's fault because he woke me up at 4:00am and then again at 5:30 just as I fell back asleep. And I was woken up again (ugh) at 7:30 when the clown next door started up construction for the day. I like dogs but mine barks too much and he shakes his ears. My mom keeps threatening to tape Remus' ears to his head so they don't make so much noise.

The last birthday of the week will be Amelia's. I am invited to attend her first birthday party on Saturday. I bought her some books for her birthday but don't tell her.

At the bookstore, they have a Corduroy bear and I am so sure I will get that for Christmas.

yoga

Today, I attended my first yoga class. Of the six babies who registered, only me and one other boy were there but that was fine by me because that meant I got a lot of attention from the helpers. The other boy from my class is older (maybe a year old) so he can move around more by himself. The ladies fawned over me! I let out my high pitch happy shrieks that could be heard from the yoga studio next door. When my mom came to pick me up, the cute dark-haired helper was carrying me all around how I tend to trick people into doing.

My mom, though, didn't have such a fun yoga class. She has been away from yoga for five months and today's class was quite strenuous! She went to yoga until two weeks before I was born. That is why I am so healthy.

I think we need to go for more walks so we get more exercise.

I voted

November 3 was election day and I dutifully went to the polls with my parents. It wasn't an exciting election this time (no people to vote for). We voted on a variety of constitutional amendments that were mostly schemed up by crooked Republicans. We had to decide, for example, if we want our property to be taxed at its fullest potential as if a $20 million amusement park was in the front yard. I have no photos from election day. Oddly, you can take your guns to vote but not your camera. Don't even get me started about guns.

This week, there was yet another mass shooting. Seems that easy access to guns is a REALLY really really bad idea . . . and even worse when coupled with bullying/harrassment. Actually, there were two mass shootings this week but one kind of went unnoticed given the severity of the first.

Since I have no photos of cute me on election day, I have included two photos from my mom's trip to Denver. In one photo, you can see Obama just as he is about to take the stage to accept the Democratic nomination. The other is of the crowd from Invesco field (with Al Sharpton!). My dad went to Denver too but he caught the plane home the morning of the speech; not only did he miss Obama's speech but he also missed Stevie Wonder's performance.

That is all for now. I have been busy (as usual) and I need to catch up on my vacation stories. My newest activity is going to the library on Saturdays. And that means that I read more than ever before.
